Etsy Shop Update

Neglected hobby #48923

I haven't had my shop active in close to a year since I got a fulltime job as a product designer for iHeartRadio. I really like my 10-6 office job, too. I thought I was going to take the shop to "the next level" with the money from the stock I sold when the previous job, a start-up, got acquired. But instead it funded a year of being young and retired. A blissful, relaxing year of taking care of myself physically and mentally went by and I lived off that money instead of getting another job, re-investing the money, or putting it back into the We Are Were shop.

I know there must be a way to balance one's day job and still have time for hobbies (Etsy shop, drawing, growing plants, collecting things, etc.). But for a year, I've been focusing on the corporate career. For 2015, my resolution is to un-vacation the shop and continue on with this other aspect of my life that I really enjoy.

I also plan to update this blog more. I love that people still find it for the Etsy/Chanel post. Most blogs really bug me, and that's why I was ecstatic to find the gomi community (though sometimes it gets a little out of hand and I don't really know a lot of the blogs people really dislike).

I love designing and I love music, so finding a job that has both in NYC is/was my dream (and with really cool co-workers and an easy-to-bike-to-from-Brooklyn location in Tribeca). So, now it's all about getting another part of my life in an ideal place –and I have a 5-day weekend to get. on. this.

A fun way to learn Spanish. Thanks, YouTube and music from the past!

Things That Look Like Other Things

Select pieces from Prada Spring 2014 look like this Etsy vintage sweater.

And that sweater looks like the Go-Go's first album cover.

On Style.com there is this feature where you can view a specific look in motion, it's called "move it!,"

and when I see that exclamated phrase on the left upper corner,
I get a certain song stuck in my head for a good hour.

Thanks! Everything Stinks Now! But Style.com is the best place to go for runway fashion stuffs every season.

(BTW, I found and favorited the Etsy sweater by just searching for "strange")

Fabulous Fashionistas

Old age doesn't have to be grim and boring.

I don't think this is available on TV in the US, not even on BBC America or something along those lines. But I found it online and downloaded the whole thing and put it here to download for free. Sadly, I don't think any US television channels would ever put something like this out. Prove me wrong, American programming!
Never mind, it's on Youtube :)

Anyway, I appreciated how it's mostly about how they keep healthy and mentally happy. The title makes it seem all about the clothes, but I understand the producers probably did that to get people's attention. There's so much more to this documentary than discussing the outer appearance of these women. Also, most of them preferred to shop in thrift shops(charity shops) and buy second-hand / vintage. LOVE IT.

Cat Pillers

These handmade pillows are real life and they can be purchased in exchange for money on Etsy.

I have a small cat pillow collection that initially happened by accident and I am totally Ok with taking that joke further and browsing Etsy and thrift stores for more. I think they look hilarious on my sofa.

Fisby likes the pillows, and is not a pillow.

Shop Update – Silks, Skirts, Jackets

Who knew there were so many tones of blues & greens in short sleeve silk tops available for me to snatch up and put on sale in the shop?
